"The Bird" - Tea Display, Cast iron, forged steel, enamel paint, threaded rod, bolts and ball bearing, 2022, 22"x15"
     (teapot and cups not included)
"The Bird"  is a cast of my finger displaying one of my hobbies of tea drinking. China takes tea very seriously by having ceremonies for weddings and special occasions. Ceremonies can range from 20-30 minutes in length or at their most basic; 3-5 minutes. My middle is not used to poke fun at the culture but to show i do not take tea as seriously and am not well practiced at serving tea. Aesthetically, the color palette originates from traditional Chinese ceramics and pottery, blue and white. The swirling motion captured in the forged white twists spins at the base using a ball bearing. The tip of the finger holds a tea bag or loose leaf ball. This piece can also be engaged with as part of a performance or simply to display a tea set.
